Web Updates

What is the easiest way to keep my software current?

One of the most important capabilities of the Structural Engineering Library is it's "Web Update" capability.

Each time your software is launched and it detects an active Internet Connection the software checks without server to see if a more recent version is available.

This "update check" is performed by a program called EC6WEBUPDATE.EXE that is installed with your software. It can only be launched through the main EC6.EXE program file and uses TCP/IP-HTTP Internet protocol over port #80 to check a small text file at www.enercalc.com for the most current version.

This update capability is ONLY available to users with an active Maintenance & Support Program.

Note! The EC6WEBUPDATE.EXE only works if launched from the Structural Engineering Library. It can not be launched by itself.

What about updating the Network License Manager?

The Network License Manager also has it's own web update capability. Whenever the program starts it will check for an update.

In later versions the NLM will have internal automatic update checks that will display a message on it's screen. This will be provided because this program is an "always on" type of program and restarting on a regular basis will be rare.
