FAQ

What are the computer system requirements?

Any typical computer manufactured since 2007 should be more than adequate to run the software. To be honest we have not really investigated system requirements because there has never been an issue! In general the requirements are:

  • 65 MB of hard disk storage
  • 55 MB of RAM to run the program
  • Windows 2000, XP, Vista or Windows 7
  • 64 Bit computers OK (software runs as 32 bit program)
  • 1024x768 minimum screen resolution and using 96 dpi screen fonts
  • Internet connection to get updates

What are your limits on installing the software on my computers?

Because the software must be activated on a computer to be used, you may install the software on any computer where you might like to use it.  Remember that youh ave purchased a license to use the software so each license is limited to one use at a time.

If you’ve activated the software on your work computer and will be working at home for the weekend, you can make a simple menu selection to “Deactivate” it on your work computer and then "Activate" it on your other computer. Only a brief moment of Internet connectivity is needed for activation/deactivation. If you need additional license that will always be activated additional licenses can be purchased at a large discount.

How does your license manager work?

We use an internet based licensing manager. For each user it allows a specified number of activations based on the number of licenses purchased. But the beauty is the usage of the software can be easily moved around. No USB keys or other hardware locks and no machine-specific installations….just no hassles!

How do I install the software so all my engineers can use it?

The software comes with the ENERCALC Network License Manager. Simply install it on any computer that all your other computers can reach over your office TCP/IP network. When you launch the Structural Engineering Library it will use subnet broadcasting and locate the license manager which will then grant it permission to run.

In this way you can have installations on all computers in your engineering department with no per-computer activation. Just activate the Network License manager and you’re finished!

What buildings codes does the software conform to?

The Structural Engineering Library Version 6.0 conforms to the 2006 IBC, 2007 CBC, 2005 ACI 318, 2005 ACI 530, 2005 NDS and 13th Edition AISC. Both ASD and LRFD design capabilities are available in all modules. In addition the 2003 NEHRP seismic acceleration database and database of all typical steel and timber sections commonly available.
