A Network License allows you to install the software on any computer on your local network. The ENERCALC Network License Manager (NLM) will run on one of the network connected computers  and grant the Structural Engineering Library permission to run.

In a network installation the number of simultaneous users is limited to the number of licenses you have purchased. This information is encrypted in your Product Control Code ( PCC ).

A Multi-User License requires the computers that will use the SEL be connected to the NLM via a TCP/IP protocol network. See the next section titled "Network License Manager" for much more information on configuring and using the NLM.

The ENERCALC Network License Manager ( NLM ) must be installed on one of the computers on the network. It can reside on a workstation or a server....just as long as it is available to the other computers on the network.

When you start the Structural Engineering Library on one of the computers it will perform a "broadcast network scan" to see if there is an ENERCALC Network License Manager "listening". If one is detected the NLM sends permission to the program to run (if the license limit has not been reached).

You will select the "Network License Manager" option from the installation program to do the installation. Following installation you will start the NLM, paste in your PCC code and perform an "Activation" which activates the NLM on the computer where it resides.

Install the software

Next you will be asked to review the ENERCALC License Agreement. You have 60 days after purchase to review the agreement and return the software so it is not necessary to read the entire document at this time. However after installation you can print the License Agreement and review it thoroughly and return the product if you decline. Press [Next >]

If you have purchased a license and have your Product Control Code you can continue by selecting this option:

                 clip0036

This will take you to the Product Control Code entry screen.

Your "Product Control Code" is the first very important step in activating your software.

The Product Control Code is an encrypted string of readable characters which contains lots of information about your license.

A typical Product Control Code looks like this:

___3NKAZZ9.ipG5l3+U57bG/Xd4CdBPM9d24pHvObJYFhqZNe

cnw4OSrHuJ0YIXbLchgMhyA3zp6D9KyzLyvI6hs+vl5kuMeKk

AfZtjD6+UuSaboJMkEIepKYmTDXcwyIer4yY42pgJSX5YD9T4

Ml8p2NybQ2Mg==___

The underline characters in the front and back are meaningless.....they just serve as endpoints so you can easily cut & paste the string.

This Product Control Code will be emailed to you as a file or more commonly within the body of an email.

To enter it into the program you will select "Settings | License Information from the main program menu to display the following screen.

clip0058

All you need to do is cut and paste the Code into the entry area and then select the clip0013 button.

After pressing the button and the Product Control String is properly decrypted the window will change to show this type of information:

clip0054

Note that the "License Code" appears on the screen now. This is the code that is used with our web activation server and is automatically entered because it was extracted from your product Control Code.

At this point you can either continue with the evaluation or select [Internet Activate] (providing you have an Internet Connection) to finish the process.

NOTE!  Our software must be able to communicate over the Internet. Please turn off your Anti-Virus software or allow ENERCALC_NetworkLicenseManager.EXE in the ENERCALC installation folder to have Internet Access.

ALSO if you have a Firewall allow ENERCALC_NetworkLicenseManager.EXE in the ENERCALC installation folder to have Internet Access.

ALSO if you have a Proxy Server you can use the [Specify a Proxy Server] button in the lower-left corner of this screen.

The activation process writes information to the hard drive in a way that is "outside" the normal file
activity and may look like abnormal behavior to an anti-virus program. Once "Activated" be sure to
turn your Anti-Virus software back on. The great part is you will never lose your activation even if the
hard drive is reformatted!

The activation process will take just a second and a you will be notified that the process was successful :

         clip0041

Selecting [ OK ] will exit the License Manager and you will be THRILLED to see that your software is now fully activated !

Of course at this stage you could also get other messages if problems occurred.

                                 CONGRATULATIONS !
