Network Installation

Use this section when you have multiple licenses for the Structural Engineering Library.

A Multi-User License allows two or more users residing on the same network to run the software. Network licenses are sold with a minimum "simultaneous usage" count of two. In a network installation the number of simultaneous users is limited to the number of licenses you have purchased.

A Multi-User License requires that the computers to use ENERCALC be connected via an TCP/IP protocol network and must reside on the same subnet.

Wide area networks (off local subnet) will be supported in the (near) future.

The ENERCALC Network License Manager will be installed on one of the computers on the network. It can reside on a workstation or a server....just as long as it is available to the other computers on the network. This is one of the options you have when starting the installation program.

A subnet broadcasting is used on the local area network to grant and maintain simultaneous usage of the software.

The ENERCALC software will perform a "broadcast network scan" to see if there is an ENERCALC Network License Manager "listening". If one is detected the License Manager sends to the started program information that will allow it to run. Typically the only condition where the program can not run is if the "simultaneous user limit" has been reached.

Do not install the Network License Manager more than once on the network. Any Network License Manager that starts and detects another one running will simply halt itself.
