This section instructs you on how to install and activate the software on all the computers you may wish to use it on.

 

No-Network Version Note : You can use the "Internet Activation" and "Internet Deactivation" ability to move the active license between your computer. Once this is done the software on that computer will continue to work without any need for an Internet connection. When you want to change it activation to a different computer a simple deactivate will give the license back to our server and then you can activate it elsewhere. More Information Here

 

Install the software

 

Download the installation file using the links you received from ENERCALC and run the program.

 

Make the "Structural Engineering Library" selection to install the software on the computers where it will be used and press [Next]

 

 

Here is the series of screens you will see:

 

 

Immediately after starting the installation program you will view a "Welcome" screen identifying the product to be installed.  Press [Next >]

 

 

 

Next you will be asked to review the ENERCALC License Agreement. You have 60 days after purchase to review the agreement and return the software so it is not necessary to read the entire document at this time. However after installation you can print the License Agreement and review it thoroughly and return the product if you decline. Press [Next >]

 

 

 

 

Next you are given two installation options. For this Step-By-Step session select "Structural Engineering Library". The "Network License Manager" selection is only used when you have purchased a network license and those instructions are covered in the next major section.

 

Press [Next >]

 

 

 

Next you will be asked to select the drive and folder location where the software program files are to be placed. A standard location for Microsoft Windows installations is given and our best advice is to accept it.
Press [Next >]

 

 

 

Next you will be asked to name the program folder that will contain the links for starting up various parts of the software. This program group will be placed within the Start | Program selection for your Windows desktop.

Press [Next >]

 

 

 

 

Next and immediately prior to the file placement process you will be given a summary of your selected items. If all is OK then Press [Next >].

 

After this the files will be copied to your computer. The speed of this will vary.

 

 

 

The final screen advises you that the installation process is complete. If you would like to have the Structural Engineering Library launched after the installation program ends then leave the box checked

Thereafter when you start the Structural Engineering Library it will obtain permission to run from the installed Network License Manager

Now start the software.....

 

                       

 

 

 

For the next 45 days you can use the software in "Evaluation" mode.....everything is available to you. The only restriction are periodic pop-up windows reminding you that it is a demo and "Evaluation Version" watermarks on your printouts.

If you have purchased a license and have your Product Control Code you can continue by selecting this option:

 

                       

 

This will take you to the Product Control Code entry screen.

 

Your "Product Control Code" is the first very important step in activating your software. You received it in the delivery email you received for Version 6.

 

The Product Control Code is an encrypted string of text characters which contains information about your license.

 

A typical Product Control Code looks like this:

The underline characters in the front and back are meaningless.....they just serve as endpoints so you can easily cut & paste the string.

 

To enter it into the program you will select "Settings | License Information from the main program menu to display the following screen. All you need to do is cut and paste the Code into the entry area and then select the [Check & Save Control Code] button.

 

 

After pressing the button the Product Control String is decoded the window will change to show this type of information:

 

 

Note that the "License Code" appears on the screen now. This is the code that is used with our web activation server. It was extracted from your product Control Code. You will typically never use this code yourself.

 

At this point you should select [Internet Activate] (providing you have an Internet Connection) to finish the process.

NOTE!  Our software must be able to communicate over the Internet. Please turn off your Anti-Virus software or allow EC6.EXE in the ENERCALC installation folder to have Internet Access.

 

ALSO if you have a Firewall allow EC6.EXE in the ENERCALC installation folder to have Internet Access.

 

ALSO if you have a Proxy Server you can use the [Specify a Proxy Server] button in the lower-left corner of this screen.
