What is the Project Manager for?
The project manager allows you to put lots of indivudual
calculations into a single file. Typically you would have one file
per engineering "project", and each file holds all your
S.E.L. generated calculations.
How are the calculations saved in files?
Project files end with the extension "ECW". These are
special files that contain ALL the calculations in your project.
This is a proprietary file format.
Where does the "Project Information"
print?
The S.E.L. has a "Title Block" on the printouts. On the
RIGHT side of the title block appears the information for your current
"Project". This information is entered on the "Project
Information" tab in the Project Manager" main screen.
(Note: If you are doing a "Quik Calc" then
by definition there is NO project information associated with it.)
What do the "Copy Calc" and "Import"
buttons do ?
The [Copy Calc] and [Import Calc] buttons are very valuable when
building sets of calculations using PREVIOUSLY CREATED calculations.
[Copy Calc] creates a new calculation using all the
data in the calculation you have highlighted in the list. This is
very useful when you are doing a series of similar designs....just
use this button and change only the specific data.
[Import] is used to get a calculation from another
Project File. For instance, you can have a file called "StandardCalcs"
where you have all your typical joist, purlin, footing, wall, or
column designs for a particular type of building you design. To
build a new set of calcs you can simply create a new project file
and [Import] the calculations from your standard calculation file
to build a substantial portion of your new project!
How can I re-use calculations from other projects?
See above for "Import" calculation feature.
How can I save my project under a different
name?
If you are have a Prject File open (a file with an "ECW"
extension) you can simply use the File | SaveAs selection and enter
a new name. Your current project file
What files do I save when "backing up"
m work?
You want to back up al of your project files that have the file
extension "ECW".
